Explain differing viewpoints on the best response to your topic issue

On 11:29 am on June 23rd, 100 lawmakers sat on the floor of the house to protest against the stalling laws which promoted background checks before people bought guns. To voice their opinion further, the Democrats raised picket signs with the names of the people who have suffered from. Furthermore, they sang songs like  ‘We shall overcome’. Moreover, they broke the rules of the house by broadcasting the protest on Social Media and disrupted by the functioning of the house by chanting “No Bill, No break” and “Shame”.

This protest undoubtedly got a lot of media attention for the 25 hours it lasted, however, critics claim that this was just a mere publicity stunt to showcase to the general public that the Democrats are making an effort to prevent gun violence to win votes in the election. Also, critics targeted the short duration of the protest claiming that if the Democrats really cared for change they wouldn’t give up their protest so easily.

These arguments certainly have some backing and cannot be disregarded, but supporters of this protest claim that atlas the Democrats have acknowledged the gun problem in society and are making efforts towards correcting it. Thus, giving the public hope of some sort of change and inspire the birth other more effective movements for gun control.

    What you described is a very interesting form of protest. I understand that critics believe it was just a stunt to boost publicity and get more votes. What are your opinions on that? What could have been done better and what can be done now to address this pressing issue?
